Auchencrow Thistle 17 May course record and a request for divine intervention.

Tuesday night saw a double header as the 7.5 mile Lintlaw time trial was the appetiser for the popular Border Baguettes Downhill Challenge.(Who was the Brie and Cranberry and who was the Fish Paste ?)
The Lintlaw course features the longest uphill finish of the timetrial series with a number of riders caught out by the seemingly benign incline to Crossgateha Smiddy. Robbie Mitchell set a new course record of 18’.37 (24.19mph) followed by Lester Grant and the improving Aidan McIlroy. Elsewhere a tasty battle is developing between Dod McMullen, Paul Ford , Nick Trusster and Ian Watson. Thanks to Jane Holmes for timekeeping.
Results, 1. R Mitchell 18.37(CR). 2. L Grant 19.14. 3. A McIlroy 20.06. 4.M Horne 20.24 , 5. G Moore 21.05. 6. D Martin 21.53. 7. G Small 22.18. 8. D Turkay 23.18. 9. G McMullan 24.01. 10 P Ford 24.47. 11 N Trussler 24.53 12. I Watson 25.11. 13 L Thomson 29.37.
Were Graeme’s prayers answered ??
The group then took in in turns freewheeling back down the hill to discover which of the riders has the optimum balance of aerodynamics and more importantly weight. Robbie proved that he is deceptively heavy and when this bulk was sat low on the crossbar it combined to trounce the rest of the relatively lightweight field.
