A thunderstorm hit the start of Auchencrow Thistle’s longest time trial of the year, running from Choicelee through Westruther to Thorniedykes and back again. Hail and flash flooding didn’t deter the hardy souls who rode out the storm to emerge into the ensuing calm across the undulating moorland course. George McMullan and Nick Trussler battled each other and the hour mark for the closest rivalry on the night, with only a second a mile separating Jane Holmes and Anna White. The first four all seemed to converge upon their their minute men at around the turn and then go on to record personal bests. The third round of the King Of The Mountains series on Tuesday 21 June is preceded by Kelso Wheelers’ round of The Border Trophy. Thanks to Ann & Charlie Lindsay and Laura Thomson for timekeeping.
