APR 14/6/16 & Border Trophy 3

19 Jun 2016 by Devrim Turkay

Auchencrow Thistle’s focus was split between an informal club road race and the third round of the Border Trophy time trial series. Greig Moore was strong enough to solo in to the finish, ahead of Graeme Small, as a result of a concerted acceleration on the drag out of Swinton. Aidan McIlroy came in third having gifted the others a minute on the final of the three 7.5 mile laps; he easily picked up Devrim Turkay, though the front two had worked together well enough to keep him at bay. Paul Ford showed his grit in hanging on for two laps with a couple of seasoned road racers. On the TT front at Hawick CC, Robbie Mitchell proved his consistency by again placing 14th – as he had done at Gala CC a month before – in 23:26, with Lester Grant (23rd in 24:04) continuing to improve and chip away at the gap between them. The club’s 10-mile TT championship is next in the sights on Tuesday 28/6/16 along the Cranshaws course, meeting at Preston at 7pm.
