APR championship | 12/7/16 | Mill Garage Trophy

23 Jul 2016 by Devrim Turkay

Neil Tait emerged a deserved winner from the trio that stayed away from the chasers in the inaugural Mill Garage APR trophy. Tait, Anna White and Devrim Turkay had what turned out to be a generous four-minute head start on Mike Horne, Jane Holmes and Duncan Martin over three laps of the 7.5-mile Borders chain gang circuit starting from Mount Pleasant near Duns. Robbie Mitchell, looking to really test himself, was a lone chaser with a further four-minute handicap. The leading trio worked well together into the last mile when White faded after another long turn pulling on the front. Tait pulled away from Turkay on the last incline, with the chasing group only able to make small inroads. Mitchell was just able to overhaul the chasing group but was still about three minutes shy of Tait. Next up: meet Duns Square 7pm on Tuesday 26/7/16 for Westruther 10-mile TT.
Results: 1. N Tait; 2. D Turkay; 3. A White; 4. R Mitchell; 5. M Horne; 6. J Holmes; 7. D Martin.
